Mani Ratnam’s film is set against the backdrop of a controversial nuclear plant

The shoot of Mani Ratnam’s multi-starrer Chekka Chivantha Vaanam kicked off on February 12 with Arvind Swami. His latest muse, Aditi Rao Hydari, will join the unit in March, alongside Miss India-finalist and model Dayana Erappa.

While the 47-year-old Arvind Swami will be seen as a politician in the film, Aditi will be seen as a strong woman in a male-dominated cast who is at the centre of this social drama. The ensemble cast also features Simbu as an engineer, Arun Vijay as the antagonist and Aishwarya Rajesh and Prakash Raj in interesting roles. Titled Nawab in Telugu, the bilingual will also be dubbed in Hindi. “Last month, there were multiple workshops and narrations with the cast when it was revealed that the story follows the life and relationships of four brothers from a middle-class family. It is set against the backdrop of a controversial nuclear plant in Tamil Nadu and a human rights and environmental violation owning to increase in methane pollution. The film will span three decades,” a source close to the development told us.
