Oviya, she of the Bigg Boss Tamil fame, has just wrapped up the shooting of 90ml, the film that has STR scoring music. Post-production work is on in full swing at the moment, and talking about it is director Anita Udeep, who says, “Usually, when we do a project with women in the lead, the film ends up bashing men and becoming too preachy. But this is a comedy with five women in the lead. When I wrote the script, I wanted to cast newcomers and give them a new identity. I really liked Oviya in the Bigg Boss house; she was herself and spoke her mind throughout the show. She spoke about everything and anything and didn’t think twice about speaking her mind. The women in my film are like her, more or less. So, once she got out of the house, I met her for a narration and she immediately liked it. The film will talk about women’s desires and how they are completely normal, just like those of the men. Women are usually asked to think before they speak, and abide by many social mores. But in the film, the bunch of friends breaks all stereotypes. It will be bold yet progressive. I have approached the script in a comical way. Oviya has done a great job and even did some stunts on her own without a body double. There is also a liplock scene with a ‘surprise’ actor.”
After Kulir 100 Degree, Anita, who studied filmmaking in LA, wanted to write an interesting script that talk about real women.
About getting STR on board, Anita says, “He liked the way we approached the film. He didn’t want to do a typical dance or love song; nor did he want a sad number, which is a staple for any album these days. So, each song has a different concept that will drive the story forward.”
Anita has also sung a song in this film. She says, “Not many know that I sang Azhagiya Asura in Whistle. So, I will be going by the name Azhagiya Asura and not Anita for the film.”
