CLASSIC CAST : ARVIND SWAMI AS MGR AND SIMBU AS MR RADHA

The shooting of the late Chief Minister MG Ramachandran’s biopic is all set to go on floors in August. While there is another MGR biopic in the offing, this could probably be the biggest in terms of cast and budget. A source from tinseltown told DTNext, “Arvind Swami has been roped in to play MGR in this biopic.” But the story doesn’t end there. It is a well-known fact that MGR was shot at by his co-star MR Radha on January 12, 1967. The film is said to focus on the political life of MGR. “Simbu has been finalised to play MR Radha in the film that will be directed by Ike,” added the source.

The project will be bankrolled by Radikaa Sarathkumar’s Radaan Mediaworks. The rest of the cast and crew will be finalised soon, and an official announcement will be made by the production house prior to the shoot. Ike, the nephew of Radikaa Sarathkumar, has previously helmed Sangili Bungili Kadhava Thora with Jiiva playing the lead. Arvind Swami and Simbu shared screen space in Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam in which they played siblings. On the workfront, Arvind Swami is awaiting the release of Sathuranga Vettai 2 and has Kallapart and Vanangamudi in the pipeline. Meanwhile, Simbu will take off to Istanbul to shoot for Maha and return to Chennai, before shooting for Maanaadu and a yet-untitled project that will be directed by debutant Narthan.
