Simbu, Tapsee come together!

Film-maker Selvaraghavan and actor Simbu recently teamed up for a Tamil project, which features Taapsee Pannu and Catherine Tresa in the lead roles. Initially, Trisha Krishnan was signed for this project but for reasons unknown, she chose to walk out. The team has recently started shooting and it is learnt that the makers have zeroed in on film's title as Kaan, which means forest and its surrounding area. "The title has been confirmed as Kaan. The team will officially make the announcement. The film is an action-thriller and major portions will be shot in a forest, hence the title," a source told Mirror.

In the movie, according to the source, Simbu will be seen playing the devotee of Lord Muruga/Karthikeya. Selva has designed a special look for him and its being secretly guarded as he feels it'll be one of the highlights of the movie. Taapsee, who is basking in the success of back-to-back hits such as Baby and Kanchana 2, has landed an intense role in the movie. "Taapsee will be playing a cop on a secret mission. Selva really liked her work in Akshay Kumar's Baby, and felt she'd be perfect for this character. It's a diametrically opposite role from what she's done so far in her career. She may even get to throw a few punches in some action sequences," the source said. Not much is known about Catherine's role but trust Selva to surprise audiences with something unbelievable.

Simbu has shifted all his focus on Kaan as his project with Gautham has hit a roadblock. Titled Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada, the film went on floors with Marathi actress Pallavi Subhash, but ever since she walked out of the project, the shoot had to be stalled as the makers had to find a replacement for her. Although Gautham has roped in Malayalam actress Manjima Mohan as Pallavi's replacement, he's yet to start shooting for the Tamil version; instead he's started filming the Telugu version with Naga Chaitanya.
