విక్రమాదిత్య, బేతాళ కథలు విచిత్రంగా అనిపిస్తాయి. పట్టువదలని విక్రమార్కుడు శ్మశానంలోని చెట్టు దగ్గరికి వెళ్లడం, శవాన్ని భుజానికి ఎత్తుకోవడం, శవంలోని బేతాళుడు విక్రమాదిత్యుడికి కథ చెప్పడం, సందేహం అడగడం, రాజు సమాధానం చెప్పగానే.. శవం సహా మాయమై బేతాళుడు తిరిగి చెట్టెక్కడం.. చందమామ కథల్లో ఆసక్తిగా చదివేవాళ్లం కదా! విక్రమాదిత్యుడికి ఎంత ఓపికో అనుకుంటాం కానీ, కాలజ్ఞానులు దీన్ని టైమ్‌లూప్‌గా చెబుతారు. జరిగిందే మళ్లీ మళ్లీ జరుగుతుందన్నమాట. ఆ కారణంగానే విక్రమాదిత్యుడు అన్నిసార్లు పట్టువదలకుండా బేతాళుణ్ని భరించాల్సి వచ్చిందని అంటారు! ఈ ఉపోద్ఘాతమంతా వెంకట్‌ ప్రభు దర్శకత్వంలో తెరకెక్కిన ‘మానాడు’ సినిమా కోసమే! శింబు, ఎస్‌జే సూర్య ప్రధాన పాత్రలుగా వచ్చిన ఈ సినిమాలో సింహభాగం రిపీటెడ్‌ సీన్లతోనే సాగుతుంది. హీరో పాత్ర చనిపోయిన మరుక్షణం సీను మళ్లీ మొదటికొస్తుంది. ఈ క్రమంలో జరగబోయే ఉపద్రవాన్ని కాకుండా, జరిగిన ఘోరాన్ని ఆపడంలో హీరో ఎలా సక్సెస్‌ అయ్యాడో చూపించిన తీరు కాస్త తికమకగా అనిపించినా.. అలరిస్తుంది. థియేటర్‌లో అంతగా ఆడని ఈ డబ్బింగ్‌ సినిమా.. ఓటీటీలో మాత్రం రికార్డు స్ట్రీమింగ్‌ సొంతం చేసుకుంది.
The stories of Vikramaditya and Betala seem strange.
