After two years in a row with no releases, actor Simbu is hoping 2015 will change his fate at the box office with a slew of releases. He has Idhu Namma Aalu with former girlfriend Nayanthara and Vaalu getting ready for release, while his project with Gautham Vasudev Menon is expected to resume soon after the release of the latter's Yennai Arindhaal, starring Ajith.
According to a source close to the actor, the much-delayed Vaalu may release next month (February) and is likely to go head on with Dhanush's Anegan, which is scheduled for Valentine's Day weekend release. "Most of the shoot is completed but for one song, which is expected to be added after the film gets censored," said a source. The makers are yet to shoot the special song Tharu Maru, a peppy number, which will feature Simbu shaking a leg with popular heroines from four generations. The film also features Hansika Motwani.
In Idhu Namma Aalu, Simbu has collaborated for the first time with filmmaker Pandiraj, known for delivering hits such as Pasanga and Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga. Touted to be a breezy rom-com, the film, which will launch Simbu's brother Kuralarasan as composer, is lined up for release next. Audiences are eagerly looking forward to the film to see how Simbu and Nayanthara have performed together on screen seven years post break-up. Pandiraj had earlier heaped praise on the actors for their professionalism. "Both Simbu and Nayanthara worked as true professionals, leaving behind their past and not letting their emotions come in between work. They were cordial to each other while working and maintained a healthy relationship off the sets as well," he said. Nayanthara and Simbu had previously worked together in 2006 Tamil romantic-thriller Vallavan. It was after the release of this film they parted ways.
Simbu's project with Gautham, titled Sattendru Maarudhu Vaanilai, which features debutant Pallavi Subhash, will resume soon. After shooting brief portion of the film, Gautham moved on to Yennai Arindhaal with Ajith, soon after the fall-out with Suriya. "It was Simbu who persuaded Gautham to finish his project with Ajith first because he himself is a great fan of Thala. He didn't mind putting his project on hold for Ajith," said the source. Gautham collaborated with Simbu soon after his project Dhruva Natchathiram with Suriya was dropped. And Simbu was ready to shoot even without listening to the film's story.
Soon after the release of Yennai Arindhaal, Gautham will take a short break and then resume shooting his film with Simbu. The icing on the cake will be A.R Rahman's tunes, which will mark the trio's reunion
