It was only recently that Kalyani Priyadarshan was signed on to play the female lead opposite Sivakarthikeyan in Hero, which is being directed by PS Mithran (of Irumbuthirai fame). Now, she has been roped in to play STR’s love interest in Venkat Prabhu’s Maanaadu. With this, the young actress has become the most-wanted newcomer in Kollywood.
While Kalyani, the daughter of senior director Priyadarshan and Lissy, made her movie debut with the Telugu film Hello, in 2017, she is all set to make her debut in Mollywood with Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, the Mohanlal-led multistarrer which is directed by her dad. Meanwhile, in Tamil, in addition to Hero and Maanaadu, she is also part of Dulquer Salmaan’s Vaan, in which she will be one of the female leads.
A few days ago, there were rumours that Maanaadu is being dropped, but the film’s producer Suresh Kamatchi denied that, and mentioned that the film is in its pre-production stage. With this announcement, it is clear that the film, a political thriller, is back on track. STR, we hear, is undergoing training in martial arts in London for the film. Shooting is expected to start in late April or early May.
