A week ago, Simbu aka STR was unceremoniously dropped from Maanaadu, a film that he was supposed to make with director Venkat Prabhu for producer Suresh Kamatchi. The reason that the producer gave for the move was the actor’s reluctance to commit dates to the project, which led to frequent delays.
The move even had the support of some STR fans, who felt that their idol was taking his stardom for granted and also taking fans for a ride by acting in an unprofessional manner. They even trended the hashtags #IrresponsibleSTRdisgraceHisFans and #STRmust-BeAnswerableToHisFans to express their displeasure.
But now, the actor has announced that he will be acting in and directing a film titled Maghaa Maanaadu, which will be produced by his father T Rajhendherr. Says TR, “This is a multilingual film, which will be made in five languages with a budget of 120 crores. The project is being made in multiple languages to cover the budget. I will be investing my 35 years of experience in this movie, the USP of which will be high production value and making style. Though it’s too early to talk about the film’s genre, I can say that it will be a full-fledged entertainer with a message. Simbu, who is currently abroad, has the complete script and will make an announcement on the other details soon.”
Meanwhile, the Maanaadu team is planning to shoot their film with a different hero though the cast and crew will remain the same.
